About Me:
5/7th Stand-up Philosopher, 2/7th coastal photographer, paddler, and adventurerererer. Erm, yeah. I'm just a guy, don't see me round much of anywhere much - Sartre said something, sometime about people. I could grok that then, and mostly do now.

Seriously though, I design distributed software for a living, and then come home and obsess on tone or simplicity at night. I love the works of the classical landscape masters, but I have to admit that I learned more about composition from Few and Tufte than any photographer. One could say that is an extrapolation of my day job into my hobbies. (Career-o-morphism?) In warm weather, you'll find me on the coastal flats trying to keep my camera dry, looking for new photos.

The primary point is to capture emotion, intent, and desire. Secondarily, to bring the viewer an uncommon vantage point. Tend to avoid grand vistas, and instead clamber up the back-paths to show you something you might've missed. I'm a conservationist and avid outdoorsman. I like to think that these ideals saturate my work.

Prefer to spend my time alone to lots of company, people make noise. Noise clutters all these things up. Like people well enough, just in low doses -- you know, like a good scotch.

Always remember that whatever it is you are doing is likely to be the thing that you are supposed to be doing. This is the rule of simplicity.

Exhibition at Catalina Coffee 12/15/07

On Saturday, the 15th of December, I will be at Catalina Coffee to unveil 10 prints sampling my 2007 work. Half of the pieces will be devoted to landscape: 'Coastal Emotions' and 'Being Small in Big Bend', the other half will be devoted to my abstract work: 'Reconciliation/Decision' and 'Willow'.

From 5-7pm I will be on-hand to answer any questions you might have about the prints or their series. The display will run until February 1st, 2008. Each print is available in a limited edition… Continue

C. A.,

Not a problem. I am just calling as it is. You have some amazing photographs, and in great command of black/white medium.

About architecture. The first job I worked on after college was Jones Plaza at the museum district. Of course I was a p-on at the time. Some of my other works are Chocolata in The Woodland, The Sky Court (at the nose bleed area) in the Toyota Center and Northshore Family Park (changing name to honor the ex-mayor now I think).

Stand-up philosopher? Cool!! Does D stand for Diogenes? I am kidding.
