Portrait Unveiling Reception and Silent Auction - April 18th, 2009

In January, my portrait studio group and I had the priviledge to host Mayor Cindy Siegel for a sitting. She supported the project as the portraits would be used to raise funds for the Houston Civic Arts Association (HCAA).
The Markos Portrait Studio Group will host the unveiling and silent auction event at the HCAA gallery at 5202 Bissonnet, on Saturday, April 18. Bidding begins at 7:00pm. The Mayor will present the "Mayor's Award" to the artist of her favorite portrait.

Winning bidders will have the opportunity to donate their artwork to the City of Bellaire art collection through the Bellaire Arts Commission.

HCAA has been an active art center for 38 years. The Markos Group is a group of representational artists. We get together every week, from 7:00-10pm, to paint a sitter who usually volunteers their time for a three week sitting. It's all for the joy of getting together, listening to some music and painting away in good company. We're a quiet bunch and we enjoy the hours as we cover our canvas with fresh paint.
