Dear Friends, I Write to you as my journey to find art in Italy ends. Finding artists here has been exciting. My journey began in Arezzo, as I went to visit some locals in thier own studio art shops. Well I am at the end of my road and its time to head on back home to the USA. Italy has been a good expirence for me. I am overwhelled at how much I learned every time I came to visit. What a beautiful country I hope that all my artist friends one day come to know how meraviglioso it is here! I went exploring around the town of Arezzo on Friday to check out the art scene and to visit many galleries. What I found out was that there are a few underground galleries that are trying out new ways to break free from the traditional roots and emerging into a interesting level in the contemporary arts world. Today I spent the afternoon with Franco Rossi in studio. I say afternoon because it is now 7.00 pm here in Italy and there is a time difference. On arrival Maestro Rossi showed me place. It is about three stories high and he occupies every inch of it as an art space- studio. Every nook and cranny was filled from top to bottom with his art. Its been 3 days of classroom study for me and all has been going over really well. Tuesday I studied over in Arezzo with a new group of Artists. Many of them where very much advanced in the principles of painting. While in class I learned a bit more about my study with paint and I got many good suggestions from my Maestro. I just had my first lesson with my teacher Franco Rossi. It was a great class. My first project was to render a painting from the 1600s. I am working a wonderful still life with a broken melon and seed falling out of it ect. It is painted in the style of Carravaggio. This is a chiaro scuro tonalitly. I have learned quite a lot with in the first few hours. I am here in Italy to do some painting! This time around I will be studying under Master Artist Franco Rossi. He is very knowledgable and talented. I will be on the hunt for gallery contacts and I will do some local tourism around the city of Arezzo, and Florence. I hope to come back with lots of fond memories.
