About Me:
I am an artist. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Houston in 1969 and was intent on embarking on a career in commercial art. The US Army and the Vietnam War intervened and plans changed.
I believe that art belongs to the beholder. It is created for those who will see it and not purely as a means of the artist’s self-expression. For this reason, I believe art should be created with the beholder in mind. In other words, the artist should always ask themselves whether or not someone would want to have it and to look at it. My sources of inspiration are many and varied. They range from history and the Bible to nature. While I feel that an artist can never really emulate nature, I also feel that there can be no greater source of inspiration that God’s creation.

Seeing Art in the Daylight

I remember years ago I was visiting in Helena. Montana when I happened upon an exhibit of paintings by Charles Russell. I was (and still am) a Russell afficionado. Besides his vibrant figures in action, no one, not even Remington could portray the beauty of the American west as well as C.M. Russell. Naturally, being a artist, I wanted to examine his paintings more closely to see in detail to see the colors he used to depict the sunsets, the mesas. the wide-open plains. Ugh! Don't get too close!… Continue

You're close to cypress? Nothing used to be close to here but now it's built up like the city. I think i live on one of the last little plots of land with trees on it now. I feel like Houston is going to swallow me.

AL that sounds great. If we both were to win I could provide young muscle and you the truck. I like that. I'll check and see if the kids are interested and get to work on entering our designs. Thanks.

Hey Al, thanks for noticing..yeah I put some of my cards there a little while back when I was at M2 Gallery. That Crickets place is delicious btw ;) Sorry I didn't make it to your last show, to be honest I have been busy getting ready to move. My husband and I have decided to move closer to family, which takes us to Tennessee. I will miss the people I have met here and the artistic community alot and I hope I can find something like this there. I will most likely keep my arts houston page up, although I am not sure how often I will be online, cause the internet up there is slow.
I really loved your recent works they have been so realistic and full of movement, great job Al, I look forward to seeing more in the future.
