Artists Wanted for Group Demonstrations to children at a Pearland private school. I’m looking for artists with an appropriate body of work that they would like to show off to a younger audience. I need 9 artists, one for each month of the school year. All supplies will be provided and the artist will be paid $5.00 per child that attends the workshop. Last year this worked out to $50-$75.00 per workshop.
Here’s how the program works. We have meetings on Mondays and Fridays from 3:15-4:50pm. Workshops should last about an hour and half. I will be on-hand the entire time to assist the artists and children. Students are very well behaved and very receptive. Typically, Artists give a short summary of their work and bring examples, they speak about their background, what made them want to become an artist and what inspires them to create. Then a demonstration of the materials begins. Last year students were introduced to soft pastels with Michael Butler, watercolors with Rosemarie Moore, and a history of quilting with Tina Black.
The students run between the ages of 4 to 14. They are usually a mixed group with more students on Fridays than Mondays. I take pictures during the workshop which are sent to the local paper and are also posted on website and newsletter.
Please email me or call if you are interested. Thank you! ~Stäcy Smith
